You get a small amount of money whenever people visit your site and choose to click on any of the advertisements. What you need to do is get lots of people to you website. The only good advice on how to do that is make a good site. If people find your site interesting, they will place links to it, it will get higher rankings in search engines and more people will find it.

At the end of the month, you get payed by Google, if the amount is high enough. At any time you can check reports on how much you've earned so far.

Finally, don't expect to get rich fast with this. Just spend a little time to set things up and this will just keep running while you spend your time at your normal job.
